Rain, Rain, Rain...

Ok, so rain doesn't exactly fall under the category of "what's new", but if you live in Houston, it's probably on your mind as well as ours these days. Seeing as how it hasn't stopped raining for what seems like weeks, that is.  Even now, as I gaze out the window with relief at how it's slowed to a nice little sprinkle, I know the deluge will start again as soon as it's time to drive home. Yes, we needed the rain.  And yes, the milder temperatures have been a nice reprieve from our usual July heat, but... when is it going to end????

The good news today (at least in our part of town) is that the electrical portion of the storm wasn't nearly as severe as it's been on other recent rainy days.  I'm all for the beauty of far-off lightning strikes and the sound of rumbling thunder, but lately it's been hitting too close to home!  In the past couple of weeks, I know of at least two fires that were started by lightning and we've had a few reports of buildings getting struck and wreaking havoc on electronics.  My next door neighbor was hit and the resulting jolt of electricity managed to turn all of her son's toys on!  How shocked were they when his room suddenly came to life???  Luckily, the toys survived just fine.  Her laptop, however, did not.

So, as I've written this, the light sprinkle has increased to another steady downpour.  They say the rain will end this weekend.  Let's just hope that it transitions to sunny & dry days, (instead of our typical sunny with 90% humidity), so that everyone can get outside and resume their summer activities before we all float away.

We at Disc, Inc., hope that you have managed to weather the rain with a smile on your face and a distinct lack of weather-related problems.  No flooding, no fires, no lightning strikes.  If you weren't so lucky, give us a call.  We can't help with the flooding or fires (other than offer a shoulder to cry on!), but if your hard drive was the victim of an electrical storm, we may at least be able to recover your data and give you SOME relief.

Wishing you brigther days, sunny skies and happy hardware-

Team Disc
